This is an endless path where, at each turn, developers have to face challenges and come up with a powerful solution that could make a difference.
Another mindset I have seen around people is that they think it is simple and anyone can do it. Well, how hard can it be to combine HTML, CSS, and JavaScript? Since anyone can do it, why should I? This idea does creep into the minds of people who are looking to learn about web development. What comes with this oversimplification is that you miss the intricacy of modern web development.
Even though it appears simple from th surface, it involves deep understanding. It might look like a couple of lines of code but what the customer sees is well designed fully functional website.
For a lot of people, web development sounds easy, but it is quite complex and intricate if you look closely. Most of what you see is an end product of a digital product when you visit a simple website. You can’t oversee the intricate building process, how it has been carefully optimised asset delivery, or security measures taken to make sure it is secure for the users, accessible for diverse users and much more. To do all this, it is not as simple as it seems, you can’t actually slap together HTML, CSS and JavaScript. It is a creative, intricate process with the end user in mind.
For the past couple of decades, web development has left a lasting impact and impression on the industry in countless ways. If you look closely, post-pandemic, there was a stark change in how we viewed the world. From going to buy groceries from vendors to buying online, the rise of e-commerce came in a boom, and who was at the epicentre of all of this “Web Development”. Now, another real-life impact you can see is the growth of social media and how the networks have changed the way we communicate and interact with people around the world. For people, accessibility to gain knowledge and do work has transformed into a way we could never have imagined.

For the past few years, I have witnessed changes like raising awareness of important issues like world problems, bringing communities together during natural disasters, and supporting people in need during war by using or creating platforms through this tech. That is to name a few. Just like any other branch in this industry, they have become instrumental in creating positive.
If you write code and understand what you are coding and how the language works on your computer, peaks the curiosity of humans remains. I don’t think the profession is going to die any sooner. Rather than dying, it might change perspective, adapt and grow which would open gates to more advancement. We see kids who are interested in developing at the age of 8 or 10, and even they are updated about the changes that is shaking the industry. I would say there would be a rise in the number of independent web developers, as I see freelancers who work independently and mark their name in the industry.As you already know, it is a dynamic, complicated, but rewarding profession that is often criticized and unfairly stereotyped. This field requires a diverse skill set, offers endless prospects for growth, and keeps you on your toes to learn and explore. Its impact is undeniable as the growth brought into each sector is different and invisible.
It is time to recognise the true value of web development amidst its misconception. I say rather than giving the benefit of the doubt, how about trying to understand the depth of where it could take you and appreciate how web development has contributed to each and everything that surrounds us.
